What to Know
- A FIRST ALERT and a Winter Storm Warning were in effect for the entire region until 10 a.m. Saturday due to a winter storm that brought snow to parts of our area.
- Three to five inches of snow were expected in most areas, with some heavier totals in areas north of Philadelphia.
- The snow was clearing out throughout the region as most people woke up Saturday.
You likely woke up to a winter wonderland on Saturday morning as snow fell throughout the night Friday, blanketing the region in a few inches of snow as we started the weekend.
Unlike Tuesday morning's storm that left a foot or more in parts of the area, however, this storm wasn't nearly as disruptive.
Most of the area received between three to five inches of snow, with less accumulation at the southern tip of Cape May County in New Jersey and north in the Pocono Mountains. Some spots around the region, particularly along a heavier band of snow that fell north of Philadelphia, could have seen more than six inches of snow overnight.

Snow began late Friday
Light snow began falling in parts of the area around 10 p.m. Friday. The snow continued through the overnight hours before tapering off after daybreak on Saturday, Feb. 17, 2024.
"Most people will sleep through this," said NBC10 First Alert Weather meteorologist Bill Henley on Friday.
You could even see some sun Saturday afternoon as temps warm to around 40.
How much snow fell?
Most of the region came in with less than six inches, but some areas really saw the snow pile up as a narrow band of heavier snow moved north of Philadelphia.
In places such as Center Valley in Lehigh County, Pa., snow measured in at 13.7 inches, while 7.3 inches fell on Blandon, Pa. in Berks County.
Melting should continue on Sunday with plenty of sunshine and highs around 40.
