Verizon Hall at the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts was rededicated as Marian Anderson Hall over the weekend in a star-studded event.

Verizon Hall at the Kimmel Center now has a new name, the Marian Anderson Hall. A ceremony was held on Saturday to honor the trailblazer whose story started in Philadelphia 85 years ago on the steps of Lincoln Memorial. NBC10’s Brian Sheehan shares more from the event.

On Wednesday morning, Philadelphia Orchestra President and CEO Matías Tarnopolsky and Music and Artistic Director Yannick Nézet-Séguin announced that Verizon Hall at the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts will be rededicated as Marian Anderson Hall.

Famed singer and civil rights activist Marian Anderson will be remembered in Philly as Verizon Hall at the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts was renamed in her honor.

The former Philly Pops musicians have regrouped, as ‘No Name Pops,’ and are getting ready to perform in front of a crowd again. This all comes months after the Pops organization was evicted from the Kimmel Center earlier this year for not paying their growing tab.
