A bulletproof vest is being credited for saving a police officer’s life after he was shot in Philadelphia’s Crescentville neighborhood. NBC10’s Katy Zachry has the latest. 

A man who was being transported to the hospital for mental health services was shot and killed by police after he allegedly took the gun of one of the officers and opened fire, investigators said. A man was killed by police after he stole an officer’s gun and shot one of the officers in the vest while he was being transported to the hospital in Northeast Philadelphia’s Crescentville neighborhood, officials said.

It has been nine months since Gary Weedon’s son, Devin was shot and killed in Philadelphia. Devin’s case still remains unsolved. Police say it was the result of an attempted robbery and released new surveillance showing four suspects. They are offering a $30,000 reward for information leading to an arrest. NBC10’s Johnny Archer spoke with Devin’s father.
