The Philadelphia Eagles are now multi-time Super Bowl champions.
The Birds captured the franchise's second Lombardi Trophy with a dominant 40-22 Super Bowl 59 win over the two-time defending champion Kansas City Chiefs in New Orleans. Andy Reid, Patrick Mahomes and Co. were attempting to pull off the first-ever Super Bowl three-peat, but Philadelphia had other plans.
The Eagles' defense swarmed Mahomes, forcing him into three turnovers and sacking him six times, as Kansas City was held scoreless until the final minute of the third quarter. While the Chiefs bottled up Saquon Barkley on the other side of the ball, they didn't have an answer for Jalen Hurts. The Eagles QB threw for 221 yards and two touchdowns and rushed for 72 yards and a score en route to winning Super Bowl MVP.
Eagles-Chiefs was a rematch of Super Bowl 57 in which Kansas City rallied in the second half for a 38-35 win. But, following a late-season collapse in 2023, Nick Sirianni's team tied a franchise record with 14 victories and won three home playoff games before getting revenge on Kansas City in the Big Game.
