Pole vaulter Mondo Duplantis won gold – then broke his own world record on the same day

Sweden’s Armand ‘Mondo’ Duplantis, who was born in Louisiana to an American father and Swedish mother, retained his Olympic pole vault title with ease on Monday, then went on to break his own world record. The 24-year-old is the world record holder and double Olympic, double world, triple European and double indoor world champion.
