Every week during the season, we’ll scout out the Eagles next opponent. This week, that opponent is the Seattle Seahawks.
The Opponent: The Seattle Seahawks, a.k.a. Seahags, a.k.a. I still can’t believe they won a playoff game last year.
Record: 4-7. A lively 4-7, I must say. You never know when the Seahawks will rise up and ATTACK!
The Line: Eagles by 3. UGHHHHHHHH. Road favorites in a tough venue after two straight losses? I don’t like it one bit.
Last Game: A shocking 23-17 home loss to the Redskins, who had lost six straight going in last Sunday. The Seahawks were up 17-7 with just thirteen minutes to play, and then the sex cannon Rex Grossman went on a tear and the Skins scored 16 straight unanswered points.
The Coach: Pete Carroll. A year from now, he will be coaching a Pac-12 team. It’s as inevitable as me not seeing “New Year’s Eve."
The Offense: Sidney Rice is officially done for the year leaving the Seahawks bereft at wideout. More than ever, they’ll rely on the rejuvenated Marshawn Lynch to do the heavy lifting against the Eagles tonight. Beast Mode has had a nice season, but the Seahawks offense is inconsistent because Tarvaris Jackson is the starting QB, and Tarvaris Jackson is awful. Take it from me. I’ve watched more Tarvaris Jackson than one person should ever have to.
The Defense: The Seahawks had been fairly decent against the run until last week, when rookie Roy Helu ran all over them. Shady McCoy is questionable for this game, so it might be Ronnie Brown back there trying to take advantage. Regardless of who starts at RB, Andy Reid MUST avoid getting all pass-happy with Vince Young and spewing forth another turnover festival. I’m not optimistic.
Key Matchup: The Eagles vs. ennui. We’re at the “playing out the string” stage of this fiasco, so the Eagles’ performance tonight will almost solely be dictated by their willingness to go out and actually try.
