No Surgery for Sixers' Brand

Elton Brand is going to be shut down for at least a month after dislocating his shoulder but won't need to go under the knife, said the Sixers on Thursday.

An MRI revealed some damage in Brand's shoulder after he was injured Wednesday night against the Milwaukee Bucks.

The damage done? A fracture of the humeral bone and a tear of the labrum, which was expected with the dislocation, according to an ESPN article.

Sixers team physician Dr. Jack McPhilemy believes that the injury shouldn't require surgery, said the team in the ESPN article. Brand will immediately begin his rehab.

Thaddeus young and the rest of the 76ers are going to need to pick up the slack in the low-post if the Sixers hope to continue to ride their recent resurgence under interim coach Tony DiLeo.
