Hey Ben. Sixers Fans Want Embiid's Meme Pal ‘Big Fendi' to Ring Bell Vs. Nets

Sixers fans' petition for March 10 Nets game is hilarious originally appeared on NBC Sports Philadelphia

It's a magical time to be following the Sixers.

Swagger is high in Philadelphia after James Harden's first two games with the Sixers went perfectly to script, and Harden's home debut this week will undoubtedly raise the vibes even higher.

The Nets, Harden's old team and Ben Simmons' new team, are slated to visit Philadelphia on March 10 (perhaps you've heard?) and while Simmons is unlikely to play because of various reported ailments and maladies, the animosity is still high.

Which is why, nine days ahead of that Nets game, Sixers fans are pushing for internet meme sensation Big Fendi to ring the bell before tipoff on March 10.

Yes, a Change.org petition is indeed circulating on Al Gore's internet this week to get Fendi to be the team's bell ringer vs. Brooklyn - and it's picking up steam. The original target of 1,000 digital signatures has easily been passed and the final number could end up in the stratosphere.

In case you missed the hullabaloo, Joel Embiid posted an internet-classic meme of Fendi minutes after the Simmons-Harden trade went down:

In short, the meme signified Embiid celebrating that Simmons, his hater, was officially done in Philadelphia. For a more detailed explanation, you can find the Know Your Meme entry here.

Fendi himself posted about the petition on Twitter, endorsing the idea and tagging Sixers limited partner Michael Rubin to try and get the ball rolling:

Unreal.

To be clear: this is almost certainly not happening. The Sixers probably don't want to be the organization that leans this far into one of its superstars mercilessly trolling an ex-franchise cornerstone on his way out. It would be bad optics to a bunch of no-fun-having front office types.

If, against all odds, it does happen? It would be the best bell ringing since Meek Mill's first-round post-jail helicopter extravaganza, which still holds the No. 1 spot in perpetuity, forever and ever.

Ring that bell, Fendi.
