This was a big week at Lower Merion. All week long students were getting themselves and the football team ready for rivalry match against Radnor High this weekend.
So far LM has come out on top of the 112-year football rivalry holding a 57-47 advantage. But, in the past 10 years we’re 0-10 so we will be looking for revenge in the 133th meeting.
There is so much going on at LM including different spirit days. Radnor does them all too, but from a “BEAT LM” perspective. To start off the week students were aloud to wear pajamas to school, which is always a comforting thing on a sleepy Monday morning after a late Eagles loss.
Other festivities include dressing as your favorite holiday, color wars and to wrap up the week on Friday there will be a blackout, where all students and faculty dress in black, of course.
At the end of the day Friday, after a pep rally, girls from each grade will take to the turf to play “Powder-puff Football”. (Powder-puff is girls two-hand touch football and has become a tradition here at LM) Students from each grade coach it. (I’ll be entering my second year as a coach looking for some revenge after last year’s loss)
But, the big event won’t kickoff until Saturday when the Bulldogs take the field against the Raiders, the century-plus rivalry will continue, this year at Radnor.
Let’s go LM -- Beat Radnor!
