Apolo Ohno Takes Philly by Storm

Eight-time Olympic medalist tweets his way through the city of Brotherly Love

Apolo Ohno Dishes Out NL Rings

America's favorite speed skater took a three-day whirlwind tour though the city of Brotherly Love this week and he tweeted the whole trip.

Apolo Anton Ohno jetted into Philly from Atlanta on Tuesday saying: "Back in the Philadelphia area! Miss it here…"

Ohno did a media circuit on Wednesday morning, hitting up Preston and Steve at WMMR and Good Day Philadelphia before heading into North Philly for a school talk.

At the LaSalle Academy on 2nd Street, Ohno stumped for the national Ask, Listen, Learn campaign -- teaching kids the importance of learning, community service and staying fit.

The LaSalle kids sure made an impression on the eight-time Olympic medal winner.

"These kids inspire me...I'm blessed to be able to be with them!"

From the school, Ohno sped down to the Navy Yard where he toured the headquarters of Urban Outfitters.

"Just toured the Navyyard here south of Philadelphia. Met with some fun friends from Urban Outfitters---very cool buildings! On the water!"

After his waterside trek through South Philly, Apolo met with his old trainer John Schaeffer for some training time. You can't be an Olympic competitor without a little training time, right?

He ended the day in the best way possible – catching up with friends: "Hanging with "the boys"...good to hav the crew back together since the Olympics...just telling stories and laughing. Love it!!"

Apolo took it easy on Thursday, just reading up on old articles about his fashions and how exercise can be used to help a friend kick a smoking habit before heading down to Citizens Bank Park for a special presentation at the Phillies game. But he couldn't hide his hometown pride.

"Headed to the Phillies game today. Can't wait until I get back home to see my Mariners!! My schedule must get be back 2 the NW!"

At the game, Ohno presented the 2009 National League Champion Phillies with their championship rings.

But he didn't walk away empty handed. Apolo was bestowed with his own jersey – bearing his lucky number -- and posed with the Phanatic for a quick pic.

"Lucky number 8! Mad love from Philly fans!!! Gave the ring to the "phanatic mascot"....having a fun time @ the game...headed 2 dinner now."

Apolo also said he's teaming up with some of the Phils to support his newly formed foundation bearing his namesake.
