Aaliyah Chavez, No. 1-ranked recruit, leads Monterey to state title, wins Gatorade girls basketball POY

Aaliyah Chavez, the nation’s top 2025 women’s basketball recruit from Lubbock, Texas, has been named the 2024-25 Gatorade National Girls Basketball Player of the Year. WNBA champion and 2016 MVP Nneka Ogwumike surprised Chavez with the honor.
