Ed Rendell Is The Best: “Esquire”

Pa. Gov. Named Among Best People in the World

He can’t get a balanced budget passed but at least Pennsylvania Gov. Ed Rendell is one of the best people around.

Rendell was named one of the 75 Best People in the World, according to “Esquire.”

The list featured men and women who “because of their talent, achievements, virtue and two other essential qualifications (having to do with puppies and drinking)” made the people over at “Esquire” happy.

Isn't it impossible for more than one person to be the best? While the magazine ignored that fact and instead gave reasons why each person should be on the list.

Rendell earned his way onto the list by being different than other politicians.

“He proves that not every macher need be a pig or a prick,” the magazine.

What’s a macher you might ask? It’s Yiddish for someone who has power and influence who can get things done -- a kind of bigwig.

Rendell was thrilled with being selected to the list, he said Thursday.

The list/gallery seemed to be in no particular order but Rendell still shared good company. Supermodel Heidi Klum and TV host Stephen Colbert surrounded the Guv on Esquire’s gallery. (Not the worst company to keep Big Ed.)

Others on the list include fictional TV character Lisa Simpson, actor Matt Damon and “Borat” himself Sacha Baron Cohen.

Check out the entire list for yourself and see if it makes you happy. You can skip to slide No. 40 to see more about Rendell.
