Norcross to Be Sworn in to Congress

New Jersey is getting a new congressman.

Democrat Donald Norcross is scheduled to be sworn in Wednesday evening as the representative for southern New Jersey's 1st District.

The former state senator won a special election last week to complete the unexpired term of Rob Andrews, who resigned earlier in the year.

Norcross also defeated Republican Garry Cobb to win a full term starting in January.

"A top priority is one we've talked about from the beginning -- and that's jobs and the economy," Norcross said during an orientation Wednesday for new members of Congress.

"We want to make sure the unemployment extension is in place for those states still lagging behind the rest of the country, then start ofcusing on how we can attract jobs to New Jersey," Norcross said.

Norcross is a former electrician and union official. He is also the brother of New Jersey Democratic powerbroker George Norcross.
