A Queens man faces minor drug charges and 22 traffic violations after leading police on a high-speed chase through a New Jersey community.
A Fairfield police officer pulled over a Nissan driven by Oshane Thompson, 25, of Queens Village, at about 6:15 p.m. Saturday for allegedly making an illegal u-turn. When the officer approached the Nissan, it sped away, police said.
Thompson sped along Route 46, pursued by Fairfield units.
He exited the highway at Two Bridges and got stuck behind traffic. He drove over a curb and grass into the rear parking lot of a PNC Bank on Little Falls Road, where his vehicle stopped because of a flat tire, police said.
Thompson bolted from the car and fled on foot, but officers caught him at a construction site.
A small quantity of marijuana, drug paraphernalia and 15 credit-card gift cards were found on Thompson and inside his car, police said. Investigators said they were attempting to determine whether the cards contained stolen numbers.
Investigators said Thompson was wanted in Pennsylvania on charges accusing him of various credit-card crimes.

He was being held at the Essex County Correctional Facility in Newark.
