EDITOR'S NOTE: An earlier version of this story reported the car was an original movie prop. The seller has edited its listing on the origins of the vehicle.

Holy ride, Batman.

The Batmobile from the Six Flags Batman Stunt Show is selling for $1.5 million through the Pennsylvania-based Classic Auto Mall.

While an earlier version of the car's listing claimed it was an original prop from the 1989 "Batman" and 1992 "Batman Returns" movies, the classic cars seller updated its description to clarify that it was not used in any of the Tim-Burton directed films starring Michael Keaton as the Caped Crusader.

A spokesman for Classic Auto Mall told NBC in a phone interview they recently learned it was a display vehicle after news reports about the sale caught the attention of insiders who verified it wasn't a movie prop. Stewart Howden, president of Classic Auto Mall, said documentation on the chain of ownership, including from Warner Bros., has been scant and made it hard to track its origins. However, he confirmed the vehicle was built by the same company the movie studio contracted to make the film's Batmobile, adding that it's still a rare item since there were only about five of them made — two for the movie and three for stunts and displays.

This exotic machine was made using molded fiberglass and features fenders of a Daytona Prototype racer, a large jet engine turbine mounted in the center, bat-style fins, a wraparound window and a closed cockpit design that accommodates the 3 passengers.

But, while the glossy exterior conveys a superhero's whip, the stunt car is powered by an electric motor with a top speed of about 25 mph to 30 mph, though the listing notes that "due to the batteries having not been charged since approximately 1993 we didn't want to risk a failure or fire."
