Missing Woman Found Alive, Suspect in Custody

Olivia Ambrose was reported missing after last being seen leaving a bar in Boston on Saturday night

A 23-year-old woman who was reported missing over the weekend has been found alive, Boston police confirmed Tuesday afternoon.

Olivia Ambrose was found alive at a housing project in the city's Charlestown neighborhood and was taken to a local hospital to be evaluated. Authorities did not provide information on her condition.

A suspect, 38-year-old Victor Peña of Charlestown, has been arrested and charged with kidnapping, according to Boston Police Commissioner William Gross. He said Ambrose was found in Peña's apartment.

"She's very strong," Heather Ambrose, Olivia's mother, told NBC10 Boston after returning with her daughter to the family home in Wenham, Massachusetts. "It's going to be a process, but she's OK."

A suspect has been charged with kidnapping after Olivia Ambrose, who had been missing since Saturday, was found alive in Boston’s Charlestown neighborhood.

An Ambrose family spokesperson issued a statement expressing their gratitude toward police and others who aided in the search. 

"The Ambrose family is so grateful for the monumental efforts of the Boston Police Department and the MBTA and Transit police who have worked tirelessly over the last three days to bring Olivia home," the statement read. The family also thanked "all of the staff at Hennessey's Bar who have been so helpful since Olivia went missing" and said they were "also so appreciative of all the efforts, prayers and good wishes of ... friends, family and complete strangers."

Police also thanked the community for its efforts in helping find Ambrose.

"Thank you to everybody who aided, helped and assisted in the investigation and search," Boston police tweeted.

Boston police say they're searching for this person of interest in connection with the case of missing Olivia Ambrose.

Hours before she was found alive Tuesday, investigators released two surveillance images of a person of interest along with a timeline of Ambrose's last known whereabouts. when she had been last seen in a bar on Union Street and when she was last caught on surveillance video in Charlestown.

Police and her family said Ambrose was last seen leaving Hennessy's bar near Faneuil Hall on Union Street Saturday night, where she had been hanging out with her twin sister and her friends. Police said Ambrose was later seen on surveillance video in Charlestown, where she was eventually found.

It was not immediately clear if he had an attorney.
