Johnson & Johnson heiress Casey Johnson will be laid laid to rest "back east" later this week in a private funeral, a family representative said Tuesday.
“The Johnson family wishes to thank everyone who has expressed condolences and support during this trying time," family spokesman Jesse Derris told People. "Your thoughts and prayers are deeply appreciated.”
He said Johnson's family had asked people to donate to the Casey Johnson Memorial at the Juvenile Diabetis Research Foundation in her memory.
"Casey struggled throughout her life fighting this disease, and she would want to see all of us continue that fight on her behalf," Derris told People.
Earlier Tuesday evening, the Los Angeles County Coroner completed its autopsy on Johnson, finding "no evidence of trauma" to the body but deferring official results for up to eight weeks.
The coroner's office said in a statement that Johnson appeared to have died from natural causes, E! Online reported. Toxicology tests and further studies of the body will be conducted in the coming weeks, the office said.
Johnson, the daughter of New York Jets owner Robert Wood Johnson and heir to the Johnson & Johnson empire, was found dead at age 30 in her Los Angeles home Monday evening.
U.S. & World
Stories that affect your life across the U.S. and around the world.
She grew up on Manhattan's Upper East Side and was pals with a network of rich debutantes, including Paris Hilton.
"I've known Casey since I was a baby," Hilton told Life & Style magazine. "She had a big heart and she was a good friend. I feel so sad, I don't want to believe it. My condolences go out to her family and loved ones."
In December, Johnson announced her engagement to reality TV queen Tila Tequila.
"Everyone please pray 4 my Wifey Casey Johnson. She has passed away," Tequila tweeted Monday evening, the first of a series of frantic messages.
"I can't stop these haunting visions of her and I," Tequila later tweeted on Tuesday. "We made such a lovely couple, only beginning to spend the rest of our lives together..."
Johnson's troubles had been mounting in recent months. In November, she was arrested for grand theft after allegedly breaking into ex-girlfriend, fashion model Jasmine Lennard's Hollywood apartment. Her family had recently cut her off from her trust fund in an act of tough love after a stint of failed alcohol rehab programs, the New York Daily News reported.
Family friend, Suzanne Webster, told the paper Casey was "a sweet but troubled girl."
She leaves behind an adopted daughter from Kazakhstan, Ava.
