Boehner Accuses Obama of “Campaign Theatrics”

The House will vote Friday on a Republican bill that would prevent interest rates on federal student loans from doubling this summer. House Speaker John Boehner announced the vote Wednesday, blunting President Obama’s effort to characterize the Republican Party as out of touch with the American youth. Boehner accused Obama of "trying to invent a fight where there wasn't and never has been one" adding that, "We can and will fix the problem without a bunch of campaign-style theatrics," according to The Associated Press. Boehner’s announcement followed the President’s two-day, three-state college tour, which he used to deliver a series of speeches about the importance of keeping interest rates down, hammering congressional Republicans who supported the interest rate hike in front of a student audience.
