A man who had been out celebrating his 21st birthday is facing charges for allegedly stabbing a homeless veteran 70 times near a Doylestown, Pa., train station, authorities said.
Bucks County District Attorney David Heckler says Doylestown resident Dale “Bugsy” Wakefield was charged with attempted murder and other counts after being arrested Thursday in Baltimore.
Investigators say the victim, 71-year-old George Mohr, an Army veteran, remains in critical condition at Temple University after being found with dozens of stab wounds around 2:30 a.m. Wednesday outside the train station.
A motorist driving by the train station on the 100 block of S. Clinton Street spotted Mohr and called for help.
Police say it originally appeared as if Mohr had been hit by a car, but once medics arrived on scene they realized he'd been stabbed.
Investigators say Wakefield called his sister and said he had stabbed someone and wanted to flee to North Dakota, but was currently in Baltimore. He was arrested several hours later.
