A Southern California woman was arrested after drunkenly running over and killing her 69-year-old father as he pleaded with her not to drive away from their home while intoxicated during the Father's Day weekend, police said.
Witnesses told police 37-year-old Soukvilay Barton had been drinking and arguing with family members about 6:20 p.m. Friday at their home in the 14000 block of Bush Avenue in Riverside. After becoming upset, she tried to leave in her BMW, which was parked in the garage, police said.
As Barton entered the car, her father, Bounmy Rajsombath, tried convincing her that she should not drive after drinking, police said.
According to police, Rajsombath stood behind the car in an effort to block his daughter from driving away. Barton backed the car out of the garage and struck him in the driveway.
Police said Barton stopped the car after seeing her father was injured.
