San Francisco Tech CEO Convicted of Hit-and-Run

A San Francisco technology CEO has been convicted after pleading no contest to misdemeanor hit-and-run for leaving the scene of a freeway crash.

The San Francisco Chronicle reports that a San Mateo County judge sentenced Nirav Tolia, the CEO of the social networking site Nextdoor, to 30 days in jail.

Tolia, who can serve his sentence on weekends, was also given two years of probation.

Prosecutors say 42-year-old Tolia was driving alongside another driver on Highway 101 in Brisbane on Aug. 4 when he began moving his SUV into that driver's lane to overtake a slower vehicle.

The second driver says she lost control of her car and hit the concrete median, suffering fractures and back injuries. Tolia saw the crash but kept driving.

A civil complaint against him is still pending.
