Family members identified a missing woman whose body was found wrapped in a shower curtain and bedsheet and stuffed in a futon as 21-year-old Yuleisy Torelles. NBC10’s Brian Sheehan has the details.

Police in Philadelphia are investigating after a woman's body was found wrapped in a sheet and a shower curtain and stuffed into a futon at a home in Philadelphia's Frankford section over the weekend.

According to police, officers made the discovery at about 12:39 a.m. on Saturday, April 5, 2025, after being called to an apartment along the 4400 block of Frankford Avenue on a report of a missing person.

Police officials said that the officers were informed that there was no contact with the missing person, a 21-year-old woman, since Wednesday, April 2, 2025.

Inside the property, law enforcement officials said, the body of the missing woman was discovered within a futon, wrapped in a sheet and a shower curtain.

The woman, police officials said, had suffered multiple stab wounds to her neck and torso.

The gruesome discovery had neighbors on edge.

"I'm young and I'm around the same age," neighbor Shirese Robinson said. "It's very traumatic to hear about anyone's death. We don't know... who it could have been."

Police officials have not yet confirmed the identity of the woman whose body was found, but on Monday afternoon, the woman's family -- who live in Venezuela -- identified the victim as 21-year-old Yuleisy Torelles.

In speaking to NBC10's sister station, Telemundo 62, her family said that Torelles had been living in Philly for less than a year and was working as a waitress.

The family said they had last heard from her on Tuesday, April 1.

Angel Cardona, a business owner, told NBC10 Torelles was a customer of his who was always friendly.

“She came in about a year ago to purchase furniture for her apartment,” Cardona said. “It’s very tragic and mind-blowing. It’s very unfortunate that happened. She’s obviously a young lady, 21-years-old, just starting out in life. And it’s a shame. It really is. My heart and prayers go out to her family, her friends, everybody that knew her.”

No weapon was recovered and, officials said, no arrests were immediately made.

Police officials said a homicide investigation was underway.
