Woman Sexually Assaulted at Wilmington Park: Police

A woman tells police she was forced into the park at gunpoint

Wilmington Police are investigating an alleged sexual assault that happened Thursday night. According to police the man was armed and attacked a woman on the 500 block of South Franklin Street. Police have released a sketch of the suspect. NBC10’s Monique Braxton reports the story.

A woman told Wilmington Police that she was sexually assaulted at gunpoint Thursday night.

The woman told investigators she was walking on 500 block of South Franklin Street in Wilmington around 10:15 when she was approached by an armed man.

She told police that man put a gun to her back and brought her to Kosciuszko Park.

Police tell NBC10 the woman was forced down in the grassy area and sexually assaulted.

That man then fled south on Franklin Street, according to investigators.

The suspect is described as a thin black man in his mid-20s, with a medium complexion who is between 5-feet-9 and 5-feet-11 inches tall and about 170 pounds. He was searing a black hoodie, blue jeans and carried a black handgun, cops said.
