Woman Killed Crossing Street

Driver told police he "never saw anyone"

The driver accused of killing a woman as she crossed a street in Bucks County Tuesday night, told police he "never saw anyone."

In fact, the Warminster man, 75, drove home thinking he was the victim. His car had a huge dent in the front and his windshield was busted.

He thought someone had thrown a cinderblock at his car, according to police.

The driver told investigators he had no idea his car might have hit and killed Jestine Chatman as she walked across Street Road. The Horsham woman, 48, died at the scene.

When he saw the accident on the late news, that's when he realized he might be responsible and police say he called them right away.

Investigators towed his car, a black Nissan Maxima, from the Chester Arms Apartments on Potter Driver to an impound lot.

Police will hand over their investigation to the Bucks County District Attorney's office. They'll decide on any charges.
