NJ Man Admits to Killing Brother in Fight and Dismembering Remains

A New Jersey man has admitted killing his brother and burying his remains throughout Cumberland County.

County prosecutors say David Rauner pleaded guilty Monday to manslaughter and desecrating human remains in the death of 46-year-old Steven Rauner, who was last seen in 2011.

David Rauner faces up to 12 years in prison when he's sentenced Dec. 16.

In an effort to conceal his crime, prosecutors said the 55-year-old Vineland man dismembered his brother and buried his remains at various locations in the county. The remains were not discovered until August 2015.

David Rauner admitted stabbing his brother during a fight. It eventually was determined that Steven Rauner died from a knife wound to the heart.
