A Pennsylvania man who admitted gunning down an Atlantic City casino supervisor last year was sentenced to 30 years in state prison without parole Wednesday.
Fifty-eight-year-old Mark Magee of Norristown admitted in June that he walked into Trump Taj Mahal Casino Resort in 2009 with a grudge and a gun. Magee said he believed casinos cheat gamblers by electronically manipulating table games like roulette and craps.
He targeted 57-year-old shift manager Ray Kot, whom he knew from regularly gambling there, Magee said.
“Mark Magee will likely spend the remainder of his life in state prison,” said Attorney General Dow. “While we have concluded this prosecution, our thoughts and prayers remain with Mr. Kot’s family and colleagues, who lost a loving husband and father and a great friend.”
Kot was a Chinese immigrant who arrived in the U.S. in 1970 unable to speak English and worked his way up from menial jobs. Kot was with the Taj Mahal since it opened in 1990.
