Ticket Demand for Bruce Springsteen's Philly Concert Makes City's Music History

While some fans were able to snag tickets to see "The Boss" at the Wells Fargo Center, others were not so lucky

The Boss is hitting the road again. Bruce Springsteen announced Monday that he and the E Street Band will begin a tour in February in the United States, followed by stadium shows beginning in April in Europe. Details on the US cities the rockers will visit will be announced later.

Bruce Springsteen fans in Philadelphia hoping to rock out at his upcoming show in Philadelphia may have to wait a little longer.

Concert tickets for Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band at the Wells Fargo Center on March 16 went on sale Tuesday morning and the high demand created history, concert organizers said.

Some fans attempting to purchase tickets online were met with a message that read:

“Thank you for your patience. We are experiencing the largest demand for tickets in Philadelphia music history so the queue is taking longer than expected."

While some fans were easily able to snag tickets online to see "The Boss," others endured long wait times in the virtual line.

As of noon on Tuesday, concert officials say a limited number of tickets are still available for purchase.

Wells Fargo Center released a statement Wednesday saying in part, "Some of Bruce’s most legendary shows have happened right here on South Broad Street, and when tickets went on sale yesterday morning, we had tens of thousands of people log on to purchase tickets.”

"This is the most exciting day in Philadelphia music history," said concert promoter Larry Magid. "After 18,000 shows over 54 years, I've never seen ticket demand like this before. At one point, we had over 90,000 in queue trying to purchase tickets. There is only one artist that can create this kind of excitement and that's Bruce Springsteen."

The legendary rocker's tour kicks off on Feb. 1 in Tampa, Florida and hit 31 cities, including New Jersey at the Prudential Center on April 14, before wrapping up overseas in Italy.
