Temple Acquires Rare Shakespeare Book

PHILADELPHIA (AP) -- Temple University has acquired a rare copy of "Hamlet."

The illustrated Shakespearean volume was published in 1930 and marks the three millionth book in Temple's library.

Academic libraries traditionally celebrate each time another millionth volume is acquired.

Temple's limited edition of "Hamlet" will go on display Thursday at the university's Paley Library before being placed in its special collections department.

In addition to three million books, Temple's library has 10 million images, more than 50,000 print and online subscriptions, and a large collection of manuscripts and sound and video recordings.
