Teen girl killed in boating accident off of Harvey Cedars in Ocean County, NJ

The teenage girl who was killed in a boating accident in Ocean County was an 18-year-old from Wayne, New Jersey. Police say she was on a raft being pulled by a boat near Sunset Park in Harvey Cedars when she tried getting back on the boat and was struck by the propellor. State police are in charge of the investigation.

Loved ones are mourning a teen girl who was killed in a boating accident at the Jersey Shore over the weekend.

The incident occurred in the water off Sunset Park in Harvey Cedars in Long Beach Island, Ocean County, New Jersey, on Aug. 25, around 4:30 p.m.

Police said 18-year-old Zeina Mahafzah of Wayne, New Jersey, was on a raft being pulled by a boat. As she tried to board the boat, she was struck and killed by the vessel's propeller, investigators said.

Responding medics evaluated people on the boat who witnessed the teen's death.

Police continue to investigate and have not released additional information. As the investigation continues, officials are asking for people to keep the victim's family members and the community in their thoughts and prayers.
