Philadelphia Police are searching for a dangerous man who shot a supermarket security guard in the head.
Pathmark security guard Leroy Jeffries, 66, was shot inside the busy Wynnefield Heights Pathmark located at 4160 Monument Road around 2:30 p.m. Sunday, investigators said.
Police believe Jermaine Goodman, 29, who sometimes goes by the name Zahid Abdul-Muqueek was the shooter.
Jeffries stopped the suspect while he was trying to get into a minivan after allegedly shoplifting cologne and dental floss following a purchase, police said.
A struggle ensued and Jeffries brought Goodman into the security office. That's when the suspect pulled a gun from his rear pocket and fired three times, hitting the guard in the head and shoulder, according to police.
Jeffries was taken to Temple University Hospital in critical condition Sunday. He was upgraded to fair condition Monday afternoon.
Goodman, who is said to be a frequent shopper at that Pathmark, fled on foot. Authorities were able to identify the suspect because he used his grandmother's frequent shopper card during the purchase.

The suspect is described as 5 feet 7 inches tall and was last seen wearing a gray hoodie and black jeans. His last known address was along 4400 block of Pine Street.
Police consider him extremely dangerous.
"Because of his actions, we don't know what this guy is capable of," Lt. John Walker Goodman said Monday during a press conference.
