Suspect in Mysterious Disappearance of Goats

Police narrow in on a suspect in the disappearance of goats from a Central Pennsylvania farm

Police say they have a suspect in the case of goats that mysteriously went missing from a farm in central Pennsylvania.

Seventy-seven-year-old Liberty Township resident Sylvia Nyman says that, first, six goats went missing in December. Then, she says 20 disappeared.

Nyman has lived on the land for 30 years and suspected that the missing goats may be the work of a neighbor. For years, some neighbors have complained about her goats, claiming they wander off her property -- some neighbors have even sued her. Three times, she has been on the losing end of those lawsuits, according to the Centre Daily Times.

"I'm getting old, but I've been a pretty good goatkeeper," Nyman told the paper.

Court documents show a judge ruled in favor of the township in October, prompting Nyman to have fencing put up.

This week, the newspaper reports Pennsylvania State Police at Rockview said charges are pending against a suspect for the theft of six goats. The name of the person and the charges have not been released.
