Student Held on $250K Bail in Campus Gun Scare

NBC10 has obtained exclusive video of the SWAT team inside the Community College of Philadelphia following a gun scare evacuation.

NBC10 obtained exclusive video footage of SWAT officers as they evacuated students while searching the building and campus at the Community College of Philadelphia after a 23-year-old student caused a major gun scare Wednesday.

The student, who law enforcement sources identified as Ryan Fitch, was arraigned Thursday and is being held on a $250,000 bail.

Witnesses say Fitch pulled a gun on a classmate at the Community College of Philadelphia Wednesday, triggering a panic that shut down the school and forced students who didn't flee to shelter in place.

Fitch appeared in court today, wearing the same brown, flannel shirt he was wearing when Police picked him up at his apartment building in Northeast Philadelphia around 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

Fitch's parents appeared to be visibly concerned for their son when they joined him in court Thursday morning.

Fitch is charged with bringing a weapon on school property, terroristic threats, simple assault and recklessly endangering another person.

According to other students who were in the chemistry class, Fitch stormed into the room, accused another student of ratting on him to security and then pulled out the gun.

No shots were fired and no one was injured.

Police say Fitch threatened the other student due to an argument involving his girlfriend, though they did not go into further detail. Police also say that Fitch had a license to carry.

The first hearing in the case has been set for June 13.
