Sinkhole Road Re-Opens in Cherry Hill

A water main break leaves a large sinkhole on N. Chapel Avenue in Cherry Hill, NJ

A water main break that occurred overnight in South Jersey caused a sinkhole to shut down N. Chapel Avenue. NBC10’s Terry Ruggles is at the scene with the latest information.

The road's open after a noisy night along N. Chapel Avenue in Cherry Hill, New Jersey.

Emergency crews worked around the clock to fix a ruptured water main.

A valve blew on the 30-inch pipe overnight Thursday, and that opened up a sinkhole in the middle of the street.

New Jersey American Water brought in Pioneer Pipes to do the repair work.

Crews shut the road down Thursday morning around 8 and re-opened it after the morning rush hour on Friday.

Only one resident was without water and that's because workers had to cut one line to get to the bigger pipe.
