Man Accidentally Shoots Himself Inside Drexel Campus Restaurant, Cops Say

NBC10 reporter Aaron Baskerville was on the scene of what police believe was an accidental shooting inside a Shake Shack on the Drexel University campus in West Philadelphia early Friday evening. The man suffered a gunshot wound to his leg, police said.

A man appears to have shot himself in the leg accidentally inside a restaurant on the campus of Drexel University Friday evening, police said.

The shooting caused some initial panic inside and around the Shake Shack near 32nd and Market streets in the University City section of West Philadelphia. The man was recovering at a nearby hospital, police said.

Officers briefly barricaded the burger joint after the shooting, which occurred about 5:30 p.m.

An hour later, students and others could be seen hanging out around the entrance to Shake Shack, which was cordoned off by yellow police tape and guarded by an officer an hour after the shooting.
