Serial robber targets 8 Philly businesses, police say

Police released video of a man wanted for eight robberies in the past month in Philadelphia

NBC Universal, Inc.

Police are searching for a man accused of robbing at least eight businesses in Philadelphia in the past month.

The unidentified man entered Harry’s Hair and Nail Salon on the 5500 block of North 5th Street back on Jan. 10 at 7:55 a.m., according to investigators. The suspect approached a man inside the store, told him he had a gun and demanded money, police said. He then fled south on 5th Street, according to investigators.

Danny Phan, who has co-owned the salon with his father for ten years, told NBC10 the man stole $100.

"For somebody to walk in there and take your money like that is very, very disheartening," he said.

Phan told NBC10 his father was the only person inside the salon at the time of the robbery.

"We're more afraid now to be around the neighborhood or even to open up the shop," he said. "We have to always be on the watchout. And things like that should never happen."

Police said the same suspect is wanted in connection with seven other robberies in the past month all within a mile of each other.
