A woman police and fire officials believed was missing following a fire in the Kingsessing section of the city has been found safe and sound.
Officials were having trouble locating a 28-year-old woman who neighbors say is usually home overnight. Initially, they were worried that she could be somewhere inside the building that caught fire just after midnight Tuesday, but she was located around 9 a.m.
Fire officials say the flames broke out on the 6000 block of Woodland Avenue, directly across from Woodland Village Plaza, completely destroying four businesses and damaging others.
They say the fire began in a nail salon or cell phone store and quickly spread to at least six other businesses thanks to a shared second floor.
The building also contains multiple apartments.
The fire was placed under control after a few hours, but continued to burn in some spots until just before 7 a.m., officials told NBC10's Jesse Gary.
SEPTA's route 11 trolley service was disrupted because of the fire until about 1 p.m., according to a SEPTA official. All route 11 trolleys are back in service.
