Robbers Leave ‘Mister Softee' Hard up: Cops

While most people scream for ice cream during a hot, summer day, police say one man and two teens had something different in mind when they spotted an ice cream man in Sicklerville, N.J. on Tuesday.

Around 9:45 p.m., police responded to an armed robbery report from a “Mister Softee” truck driver.

The driver told police that two men approached his truck, appearing to be customers. When the driver opened his service windows, one man walked away while the other allegedly pointed a large handgun in his face and demanded money.

The driver claims that he gave the robber around $20 in cash and drove away after the gunman told him to leave the area.

The driver then saw a Gloucester Township Special Police officer and reported the incident.

Police arrived at the scene where they spotted one man who the driver identified as the gunman.

Sheldon Abrams, 20, of Newark, Del. was arrested and charged with robbery and other related crimes. He was processed and remanded to the Camden County Jail in default of $250,000 full cash bail.
