Philadelphia rapper Meek Mill is asking a jury to award damages for a traffic stop and arrest that he calls racially motivated.
Closing arguments are getting underway Thursday in the performer's civil-rights case against Philadelphia police.
Mill and three others were handcuffed and detained for nearly 10 hours on Halloween night 2012.
The 26-year-old Mill, born Robert Williams, says he missed his flight for the launch of his debut album, ``Dreams & Nightmares.''
Police say they stopped the Range Rover over its tinted windows and smelled marijuana, but no drugs were found and no charges filed.
Mill was then on probation from a 2008 drug and gun case.
His lawyers say the city was reckless to keep a now-fired police officer involved in the stop on the street.
