Pennsylvania State Police said a Bucks County house fire on Wednesday morning left a woman and dog dead.

A woman and her dog died as fire engulfed a Bucks County, Pennsylvania, house Wednesday morning.

Flames broke out around 4 a.m. on Dec. 4, 2024, in a home along Mountain View Drive in the Hayocock Township section of Quakertown, Pennsylvania State Police said.

"Upon arrival, the residence was fully engulfed in flames and an adult female was found deceased at the back door along with a deceased dog," State Police Trooper Nathan Branosky said in a news release.

Police didn't immediately identify the dead woman.

As SkyForce10 hovered overhead about two hours after the fire began, firefighters could be seen surrounding the house -- ladders leaning on the roof -- as white smoke rose. Part of the roof of an attached stone part of the home appeared to have collapsed.

The cause of the fire remained under investigation by the fire marshal, police said.
