Once at the residence, officers found a man, identified as William Ciccoli Jr., and a woman arguing, officials said.

The responding officers were trying to diffuse the situation when Ciccoli is accused of trying to remove the firearm from an officer's holster, the District Attorney said.

Ciccoli and the officer struggled leading to the firearm to discharge, according to the District Attorney's Office. The officer was struck in the right hip.

The officer was then taken to a nearby hospital where he was treated with non-life threatening injuries.

Cioccoli was arrested and is expected to face charges on Friday. An investigation into this incident is ongoing.
