Police swarmed a Bucks County neighborhood overnight after officers shot and killed a man who officials say was armed with a knife. A police officer was also hurt in the incident.
Police responded to the 500 block of Elm Avenue in Northampton Township just before 7:30 p.m. Sunday night for a report of a man who was trying to take his own life with a knife.
When officers arrived, they were met by a man later identified as 40-year-old Mark Chambers of Northampton Township.
Chambers allegedly moved towards them while armed with a large knife. At least one of the responding officers opened fire, shooting Chambers.

Chambers was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead at 8:06 p.m. on Sunday. After the shooting, police blocked off Elm Avenue in the area of Aqua Drive.
Bucks County Coroner Meredith Buck determined Chambers died from multiple gunshot wounds and his manner of death was ruled a homicide.
“It is important to note that homicide as a manner of death refers to death at the hands of another," Buck said. "This matter remains under investigation by the Bucks County District Attorney’s Office.”
