Police Arrest Suspect in Shooting That Left 2 Injured

Police have arrested the suspect in a Nov. 7 shooting outside the Olney Transportation Center.

Keith Ballard, 32, of the 7800 block of Bayard Street, was identified as the shooter who injured two men at the corner of Broad and Olney, according to investigators.

A 43-year-old man was waiting with a friend at Broad and Olney when he heard multiple gunshots and was hit in the left leg. He was transported to Albert Einstein Medical Center, treated and listed in stable condition.

A 29-year-old man was also struck in the shooting. He was on Olney Avenue near Broad Street when he heard two to four gunshots and felt something hit the side of his head. He noticed he was bleeding after feeling his head and walked himself to Einstein. He was treated for a graze wound and listed in stable condition.

Neither man could tell who was shooting nor knew a reason why they could be targeted.

Police recovered surveillance video after the shooting that showed a man, who they later identified as Ballard, walking on Olney Avenue towards Broad Street. The suspect walked through a crowd of people, singled out the victims, and fired several shots, police said.

Ballard was arrested Friday. He is charged with aggravated assault, simple assault, and recklessly endangering another person.

Bail is set at $100,000.
