Trains headed along SEPTA's Trenton Line and Amtrak's Northeast Line have been halted in the area of Cornwells Heights station after, officials said, an Amtrak train struck and killed a person.
Both SEPTA and Amtrak alerted riders to the service interruptions around lunchtime on Wednesday.

In a statement, Amtrak officials said that the incident happened when Amtrak train 2162, traveling from Washington, D.C. to Boston, at about 11:30 a.m., struck an individual who, officials said, was trespassing on the tracks near Cornwells Heights station.
There were no reported injuries to the 231 passengers or crew onboard the train, officials said.

SEPTA officials are telling riders whose trips may be impacted by the shutdown to check the mass transit provider's trip planner for alternative routes.
As of about 1 p.m., officials with Amtrak said train service was resumed in the area.
By about 3:15 p.m., SEPTA officials said trains had resumed service along the Trenton Regional Rail line.
