Pilot, Passenger Walk Away From Crash Landing

A pilot and passenger walked away after their single-engine plane lost power during takeoff at the airport in Millville, New Jersey.

The view from SkyForce10 showed the plane on its belly in grass alongside one of the runways. Pilot Roger Buck of Berlin, N.J., cut his forehead and had some other minor injuries after trying to make an emergency landing.

Passenger Roland Arthur of Lumberton was not hurt.

In August of 2012, a student pilot died at the same airport when he crashed his dual engine plane during a lesson. The NTSB's preliminary report said Ronald E. LeCates of Swedesboro, and his instructor purposely cut the engine off during a lesson on how to survive an engine failure. LeCates suffered head trauma when his Beechcraft Baron cartwheeled off the runway.
