University of Pittsburgh-Johnstown Student Ordered to Trial in Campus Rape Case

A student at the University of Pittsburgh's Johnstown campus has been ordered to stand trial on charges he raped a female student in her dorm room in January.

Twenty-one-year-old John McGuire, of Landisville, was ordered to stand trial after the woman testified at a preliminary hearing on Monday.

The (Johnstown) Tribune-Democrat said the woman testified she met McGuire online then invited him to her room to watch television after he texted her asking to ``hang out.''

The woman says she was "terrified'' when McGuire began kissing her and became more aggressive, undressed and sexually assaulted her.

Defense attorney David Weaver argued there wasn't any "forcible compulsion'' as required by law. But a district judge agreed with a Cambria County prosecutor who argued McGuire "forcibly put his hand on her.''
