A Philadelphia flag store is finding that what is happening on a soccer field a continent away has a lot to do with sales.
The Philadelphia Inquirer reported Saturday that more customers are showing up to buy flags when countries are playing in the World Cup in Brazil, sales spike when a country wins and they drop when they lose.
Humphrys Flag Co. owner Matt O'Connor tells the paper there's been a low demand for Russian flags, which he thinks is linked to the crisis in Ukraine.
Algerian flags were flying off the shelves before their game this week against Belgium, while Spanish fans weren't doing much buying after their elimination by Chile.
The 150-year-old company is located across the street from the Betsy Ross House in Old City.
