Philly Cop Charged With Assault, Stalking Day After Retirement

Philly police have been investigating assault allegations against cop since February

Yet another blemish on the Philadelphia Police force came to light this week, when a just-retired Philly police officer was arrested on charges of assault and stalking.

Forty-six-year-old Anthony Floyd was arraigned early Thursday morning on charges he assaulted a woman earlier this year. Floyd retired from the department just a day before being informed of the charges.

Philadelphia Police Internal Affairs began investigating a female friend’s allegations of Floyd’s domestic assault in February, according to police spokesman Lt. Frank Vanore. Vanore says Floyd is not charged with committing any crimes while on duty.

Floyd has been charged with terroristic threats, stalking, simple assault, recklessly endangering another person and harassment.

Floyd was a member of the department for 26 years and most recently served in the narcotics unit.
