You can use the city's StreetSmartPHL tool to see where trash and recycling trucks have already visited each day, as well as where trash and recycling will be collected each day of the week. The site also lets you know if trash and recycling collections are on schedule. Click on the PickupPHL button for all of the information.

After a city-observed holiday, trash and recycling collection will be delayed one day for the remainder of the week. If a holiday falls on a Friday, trash will be collected on Saturday.
These are the holidays the city is observing in 2025:
- New Year's Day – Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2025
- Martin Luther King, Jr. Day – Monday, Jan. 20, 2025
- Presidents' Day – Monday, Feb. 17, 2025
- Good Friday – Friday, April 18, 2025
- Memorial Day – Monday, May 26, 2025
- Juneteenth – Thursday, June 19, 2025
- Independence Day – Friday, July 4, 2025
- Labor Day – Monday, Sept. 1, 2025
- Indigenous Peoples' Day – Monday, Oct. 13, 2025
- Veterans Day – Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2025
- Thanksgiving – Thursday, Nov. 27, 2025
- Thanksgiving Friday – Friday, Nov. 28, 2025
- Christmas Day – Thursday, Dec. 25, 2025
Basically, after President's Day, Monday pickup becomes Tuesday pickup, Tuesday pickup moves to Wednesday pickup and so forth.

What about weather delays for trash pickup?
During and after inclement weather -- especially wintry weather -- trash and recycling pickup could get pushed back.
Want to get rid of your trash any day?
"If you live in Philadelphia, you can drop off oversized trash, yard waste, recycling, and other items at six sanitation convenience centers around the city," the city’s Sanitation Department says. "All six sanitation convenience centers are open Monday through Saturday, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. The centers are closed on City holidays."
