The archdiocese of Philadelphia and the union representing 600 Catholic high school teachers in Philadelphia have reached agreement on a new two-year contract.
Officials say the agreement means classes will start as scheduled Wednesday for some 11,000 students at 17 high schools.
The previous contract expired last week, and the two sides were negotiating during the Labor Day weekend.
The teachers had been working on one-year contracts since a 2011 impasse led to a two-week strike.
