Philadelphia police officer's gun went off inside locker room, hurting another officer

Police say an injured Philadelphia police officer was taken to the hospital after he was grazed in the leg by a bullet accidentally fired by a fellow officer. The officer has been released from the hospital but an investigation into how this incident happened is ongoing. NBC10’s Johnny Archer has the details.

A Philadelphia police officer is okay after another officer's gun discharged and hit him in the leg, a spokesperson said.

Just before 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 19, an off-duty police officer's personal gun "accidentally discharged" inside the locker room of the 25th District offices in North Philadelphia, police said.

When the gun went off, it grazed the other officer in the left leg, according to officials.

The hurt officer was taken to a nearby hospital and placed in stable condition, officials said.

The Philadelphia Fraternal Order of Police told NBC10 that the injured officer has been discharged from the hospital.

Officials are investigating this incident.
